ultraman-distance of 515km

UMUK is a three-day staged triathlon over the traditional ultraman-distance of 515km, consisting of:

Day 1

10km (6.2 miles) swim followed
by 144.9km (90 miles) bike.

Day 2

275.3km (172 miles) bike.

Day 3

84.3km (52.4 miles) double marathon run.

DATES

Registration and event briefing for UMUK 2019 will take place Thursday 29th August with the event being staged
Friday 30th August – Sunday 1st September 2019.

LOCATION

Our event HQ is Swallow Falls Hotel, Betws-y-Coed LL24 0DW. Registration and bike checks will take place here. With the exception of Day 1, which starts at Lake Bala (Llyn Tegid), all other stages start and finish at Race HQ.

Day 1: 7am start at Lake Bala. Swim cut-off 1pm. Finish at race HQ by 7pm

Day 2: 7am start at race HQ, finish at race HQ by 7pm

01.09.2019
Day 3: 7am start at race HQ, finish at race HQ by 7pm

CUT OFFS

Each day will have a 12 hour cut off, with the swim stage having a cut off of 6 hours.

SUPPORT CREWS

This event is unsupported ie. there will be no aid stations or road signage on the course. You must use a support crew, consisting of two adults and no more than one vehicle, who will accompany you throughout all stages of the course. Your support crew will be responsible for navigating the course and providing you with nutrition. (The swim stage is organised such that you will not require a support boat). Please refer to Rules and Guidelines for more info regarding Support Crews.

Beautiful yet brutal courses with no repetition. Just one big loop each day full of incredible scenery.

After each gruelling day, you get a well-deserved rest before tackling the next challenge!

A great weekend away with your mates! No other event comes close in terms of the bond formed between you and your crew over the three days.

Superb and friendly atmosphere as everyone involved in UMUK events – staff, athletes, support crews – is there for the duration of the long weekend.

We can’t guarantee you’ll leave with a finishers’ medal but we can guarantee you will go home with incredible memories and a load of new friends!

HOW DO I ENTER?

Entry to UMUK is by invitation only. Organisers will select and invite a maximum of 50 athletes on a first come, first served basis as the applications are received and if otherwise qualified. The selection of invitees will be based upon the experience, qualifications and criteria met for each applicant.

It is recommended that the applicant will have completed at least one iron distance race within the previous 18 months of the event being applied for. Other ultra-distance events are also considered as qualifiers assuming they have distances equal to or greater than iron distances. Other solo long distance events are considered if it is deemed they require the planning and training that would be of benefit to the athlete doing UMUK.
